Artists' Notes:
'In Montréal on a summer afternoon Lori Goldston and Stefan Christoff connected to make this recording at La Plante. Listen closely to the recording and you can hear the summer birds joining the duets. This conversation was improvised, Lori playing cello and Stefan playing a Hammond organ. As for the birds, the spirit you hear in the room is their common understanding: that within a culture shaped by awareness and engagement with the natural world and humanity, music is alive. And that no culture is alive without all the social movements working so hard to strive for a more just, fair and equitable planet.'

Foxy Digitalis:
''Dasa Tapes continues its trek as one of the most interesting labels around with this fantastic collaboration from cellist Lori Goldston and Stefan Christoff on Hammond organ. Emotive glances spread languidly across the fading shadows cast against marble visages while Goldston plucks searchingly. Gem-colored hues pour in as morning birds hold court for longing cello laments and the piercing glow of the organ’s drone. There’s such a sense of space across Punk Equinox (what an amazing album title). Two artists gazing, sending out sonic tendrils to make new, intertwining connections before retracing steps and retreating. It’s lonely here, but I think it’s going to be okay.''
Free Jazz Blog:
'Crosscutting rough bowing frictional like hurdy gurdy or viola da gamba for rustic mood. Lines with the gravity of melancholy if they didn’t have the celerity of a whirling dance. It is mellifluous. And perhaps more than communicating through texture, speed, or volume they operate in complementary tonal spaces to make it mellifluous"
Vital Weekly:
'The cello is undoubtedly an instrument that affects music, but when Goldston plays with her fingers, she adds a rhythmical aspect to the music. I think it never becomes pop music but remains a bit folk, except for the lighter 'Tarkovsky's Orbit', which seems to have mostly the Hammond organ. However, the atmospheric and melancholic aspect prevails here in these pieces, yet the musical elements are never far away. There is no difficult music here, no hectic, no chaos, just simple, straightforward tunes, and it is the kind of introspection I love very much.'

Absolutely love this recording. I listen to it at work. I listen to it in the car on the way home from work. I listen to it while falling asleep. Curtis’ cello is so amazing. Just got the vinyl in the mail from Discogs the other day! Can’t wait to play on my hi-fi system! Dave Sewall
